R&D 227

hi again.

Why am I doing two projects in one message? I'll tell you. I am doing it because i want to, plus they are going to be very related, and I think it will be a good comparison between drawing from a photo, and drawing from life.

Some time ago we did some blind line drawings... but that was eons ago, and I think it is time to revisit them again.

To refresh your memory, should you have forgotten... or maybe the concept of blind line drawing is new to you.

Basically what blind line drawing is, is that you do not look at your drawing surface when you are moving your pencil or crayon. You only look at the subject. You may look when you have finished a line to reposition your pencil. Now, I can tell you that you are going to get some crazy results. but that is not the point, even though some of those results you may find very appealing.

The point is that you develop your hand eye coordination, and that you begin to train your eye to follow the contours. Let your eyes go for a little rollercoaster ride if you will.

Now, for the R&D project, I have choosen a pose submitted but the pair I like to call torino4. This kneeling pose that you will find in the R&D 227 folder is nearly classic in every sense. (I am not sure why I say nearly, but I do... hehehe) anyway, go there, and get that image and do drawing without looking at your paper.. (no cheating, I will know if you did.) I don't want to see any shading at all. If you are one of those that can't help yourself when it comes to shading... PLEASE-restrain yourself... just this once.

And now, lets talk about Life 117. Here you can do whatever you want as long as it is from life.. that is, it is not drawn while looking at a photograph. You can draw yourself, clothed or nude. You can draw your shoes. Or your moms shoes. Whatever you want. But the same rules apply.

Let's say that this project is due (both of them) on June 17th (2006).

Get ahold of me if you have any questions. I will try and have at least one sample posted by the end of today.

Now, LETS DRAW!!!!
