R&D 216

R&D 216

Model: Laurie (thanks for the dynamic pose)

Project details: Well, finally found some time to get an R&D up, I was thinking about this project for some time now and with the influx of all this new blood, I thought we could go back to some basics of color theory.

It is good for both beginners and experts to revisit the building blocks of color theory. It helps you to see the colors in a new light and brake old habits.

This project has two phases, one you will draw/paint Laurie in only cool colors, then you will do one in only warm colors. Cool colors being the greens, blues, and purples; warm colors being yellow, oranges and reds. The edge colors (yellow-green and red-violet) can be used in either drawing, and white and black can be used also to make different tones and shades.

Remember, r&d is research and development, they do not need to be your best works, they are to build skill and could be used as an “under-painting” or start of a more formal drawing. Be quick and have fun!

Media: any color media is fine whether it is drawing or painting, paper or canvas.

This project will conclude on 12/16/04

Next r&d will deal with local color, and invented color.

Lets draw! Douglas Pexa
