Draw a character from a movie or television. If you do not have a collection of DVDs, go rent one, or simply watch something suitable on television. Then choose a character (or the news reader for that matter!) and make a drawing of him/her.
If you have a DVD, you can of course pause the film, thus creating a still image to use as reference, but I suggest that we instead take the more challenging route and work 'from life', i.e. simply observe the character as he moves around and shoots bad guys or whatever, and try to capture a likeness.
It is pretty challenging, but I a great exercise for developing the eye, I would think.
