Life 109
Yes it is that time again for a new life project, for newer members this is were we build our skills doing a more formal work of art and have 4 weeks to do it if need be and it is based on things in your own life. Often it is a self portrait or things in your environment. This time around we will work on a portrait of someone we know.
Here is the detail of the project. Find someone willing to be your model that you know well, such as a parent, a spouse, the person you are dating, your kids, close family member, best friend, anyone you really know their face well. And do a portrait of that person (s) and really try to get the “likeness” of that person. Work with that person in a live situation if at all possible but working form a photo if need be. (asking them to just watch tv or a movie and hold still helps these people be ok with it) If you are working with a photo, have them somewhere close while working may help you if you need a better look at them (say the nose is not quite there you can look at the nose in life and maybe figure out what is wrong) when posing them think about the negative space so that the drawing is more dynamic and interesting. Do not add more than half of the torso to this drawing since it is a portrait and the face is what we are working on. You can do any type of view too straight on, ¼ turn, ¾ turn, looking down at them, looking up at them etc....
The goal is to have fun and to achieve a likeness. any media or style is ok.
This is due on October 31! (2004)
Lets draw!
