Happy New Year!
We have done a few self portraits here in the last little while, and i hope you will not tire of them because i think that there is great value in them. And in the attempt to keep the process interesting for at least one more assignment, let's try this:
Everyone has their favorite old master, or if not an artist that is considered an old master, you have a favorite artist that most all of us will recognize.
Let's say that your favorite artist is Picasso, you would proceed to do a self-portrait that would be your interpretation of what your image might look like if Picasso were to paint your portrait.
Now if you chose Picasso, there are many styles that you could choose from since he painted in many and went through many periods. Not all artists have such wide and varied appraoaches to their work.
Who ever you choose, do your best to try and 1) choose a pose that would be representative of what that artist may have chosen, 2) imitate their style of painting or drawing.
This may prove to be a more challenging assignment so it will not be due til Feb. 16th (2004).
