Life 004

Ok, I have almost fully recovered form a long week and my art opening so I would like to purpose a life drawing project. This time we will be working form an old trick that art students often employed and even not so old masters did (including Van Gogh and such). It is drawing from a master work. There are two ways we can go about this:

A. Go to a museum in your area, find a painting you like and sit down and draw from it in the museum. Make sure you check with the museum in question first though to get there policy on artists and there media before going to draw (some do not allow ink pens some you can not use big sizes, but some you can rent chairs and the stuff). This is a time honored tradition with artists.

B. Find a picture in a book, on the internet and draw from that.

Suggestions, find a master that you don’t know all that well and draw from them, make sure there are figures in it since that is what we are concentrating on. Draw all or just part (s) of the painting. Pay attention to detail and how the artist solved part of the painting, how white looks, how the fingers are done etc... For the newer drawers, try to do a copy of the art, for the more experienced person, do it in your own style, and to all if you are feeling adventures do one of each! But more important have fun and learn!

This project is due September 30th! (2003)

For new people, Life Projects are projects that we do in real life and do not take images from the fdf group, it has been self portraits and drawing people out in a space so far and usually lasts a month or so, please ask if you have any questions! And remember there lurking is not tolerated!

Now lets draw!
