Hi folks,
This is Art trying to come up with an assignment. I've
been pestering Ben for a while with assignment
suggestions but not very good ones.
So I got the go ahead and, duh!, I went blank.
Andrew had a suggestion about using a pose and
creating the physical and spiritual sides to the
image.
Then Ronnie posted his wonderful work done of him at a
workshop he modeled for AND to make a confluence of
powerful events come together even stronger I read a
very inspiring paragraph at the end of a great book -
Alla Prima - Everything l I Know About Painting by
Richard Schmid. This is a tremendous book.
There's a review of it on the Artist-Perspectives
website that Brent wrote.
Here is an exerpt from the closing graph - very
inspriring:
". . .faint confluence of the tangible and the
spiritual is where Art comes from. It has no known
limits, and once you tap into it you will realize what
truly rich choices you have. May each painting you do
from that sacred place include an expression of
gratitude for the extraordinary privilege of being an
artist."
Wow!
So with inspriration from Andrew (spawned from a
conversation with Royce about his painting) plus
Ronnie's works posted plus this quote - . . . Let's
draw paint or chisel! Do whatever you do to bring out
those rich choices and do an assignment that was meant
to be.
I chose an especially animated pose from Ronnie's
wonderful and extensive collection as the basis for
this.
Use it for a piece of work that reflects the physical
being shown in the photo with the spiritual as you see
it. It can be your spiritual sense of doing the work
and let it just be present in the drawing of Ronnie or
it could be something of Ronnie's spiritual being
which he has an abundance of. It could be also be some
Godly image like a Guardian Angel or just let your
imagination run.
Maybe just doing the drawing of Ronnie will be a total
expression of the spiritual and physicaal nature of
the art of creation.
There is a wonderful piece of work created by Royce
which was the original spark for this theme.
Take a look but don't let it influence your creative
thinking.
