Fabrication 009

fab 009: Oh boy oh boy a new fabrication!

This time our model will be one of our new models, Melissa (thanks for the wonderful pictures).

We will be building the image up on this project from a few lines an gestures into forms and then into a finished piece. The goal being to loosen up a little, get some energy back into the drawing, and have fun!

This project will work best with the largest size paper possible (scanner people will need to do stick with how big there scanner is unless they can borrow a digital camera).

Ok, here it is, you will want to start out with lines that define the base structure of the figure. A line for the spin, a line for the shoulders and hips and the arms and legs using little circles for the joints in the arms and legs shoulders and hips. The key is quick and broad strokes to get the feel of the figure down. Don’t worry about being perfect, this is an under drawing.

Next you will want to start to define shapes by "fleshing out" the figure with ovals and circles. Again, quick gestures will be best.

Start to correct the form and continue to flesh the drawing out, moving things as need be, but don’t get ride of the under drawing all together. start to build your tones, and develop the negative space also.

Now finish your drawing as need be keeping the same kind of energy you started with, and don’t forget you can always add objects or settings "juxtaposed" to the figure to add meaning or mood, and also think about color too, what would make the image more interesting? Is there something that dose not come out of the under drawing stage? And only some areas are finished? Or more defined?

I would also think of Brine’s drawings, this is the energy I am thinking of, but use your own style
